St. Patrick’s Day

With Patrick Michael Joseph
Kevin Daniel Sean O’Flynn
We celebrate the feast day
Of his patron saint again.

He spent some time at Duffy’s
Helping spread his Gaelic cheer
And had a pint or two of stout
Washed down with cold, green beer.

He toasted all the Irish
Who were gathered in the place
And raised his glass to lasses
Who recalled his mother’s face.

He bought a round for old time’s sake
Then fell down on the floor
And held up two short fingers
As he ordered two rounds more.

He made his way to midtown
With a beer in either hand
And took a place in the parade
As leader of a band.

He danced a jig and took a swig
And tried to kiss the mayor
And as they led him off
He had a green rose in his hair.

They made him spend the night in jail.
A fine he had to pay,
For all the shame that he had brought
Upon that sainted day.

He learned a lesson hard but sure:
That drink can be a sin
For Patrick Michael Joseph
Kevin Daniel Sean O’Flynn.

So if you want to celebrate
You’d better think of Pat
And keep some sense inside that thing
You put inside your hat.

Enjoy yourself with this in mind:
Take care how much you drink
For Patrick is an officer
He’ll throw you in the clink.
